Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to work carried out by Jackson's Electrical Contractors for domestic customers unless something different has been agreed in writing.

Quotes

Quotes are free for all job types and are based on the information given and, where relevant, what is visible at the time of the visit.

Where work uncovers something that could not reasonably be seen beforehand, such as existing wiring in worse condition than expected, you will be told before any extra work is carried out and given a revised price.

Pricing

Simple and small jobs are charged at a flat call-out price. Published prices, such as EICRs at £180 for a 2 bed, £200 for a 3 bed, £240 for a 4 bed and £280 for a 5 bed, and consumer unit replacements as a straight swap in the same position from £650 for a 6-way, £800 for an 8-way, £850 for a 10-way and £900 for a 12-way, apply to standard installations.

Anything outside a straight swap or a standard property is priced on the job.

Deposits and payment

Larger jobs such as rewires and new installations require a deposit before work begins. The balance is due on completion unless a different arrangement has been agreed.

Bank transfer is the preferred payment method. Details are given on the invoice.

Access and working hours

Work is carried out Monday to Friday 8am–4:30pm and Saturday 8am–12pm. You are responsible for providing safe access to the property and to the areas being worked on for the agreed times.

Where furniture, floor coverings or stored items need moving to reach cables, boards or accessories, this should be arranged before the start date unless agreed otherwise.

Certification

Certificates are issued on completion: an Electrical Installation Certificate for new work, or an Electrical Installation Condition Report where a condition report was the work commissioned.

Work that falls under Building Regulations is notified through NAPIT under registration 79130.

Scope of work

Only the work described in the quote is included. Making good beyond basic reinstatement, such as plastering, decorating and floor finishes, is not included unless stated.

Existing installations outside the agreed scope remain your responsibility. Where a defect is found that is not part of the job, it will be reported to you.

Cancellation

Please give as much notice as possible if a booked date needs to change. Where materials have been ordered specifically for your job, those costs may be charged.

Insurance and liability

£2m public liability insurance and £250,000 professional indemnity insurance are in place. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot lawfully be limited.
